The 2nd annual Newcastle 5K Run/Walk, to be held Saturday, August 28, is now open for registration. The 3.1 mile scenic run/walk will start and finish in Lake Boren Park.

Competitors can register at www.active.com or in-store at The Balanced Athlete in the Renton Landing, as well as at all Seattle-area FootZone and Road Runner Sports stores.

Mail-in registration is also available, with details at www.newcastle5k.com

The Newcastle Running Club is a nonprofit committee, and proceeds from the event will support Hazen High School Cross Country and Track sports programs
