Cannabis retail shops offer welcoming atmosphere, staff educators to find you the right product

If you’re fortunate to get to know your neighbors well, it can greatly enhance your life. That is the case with many clients of Evergreen Market’s five Greater Seattle dispensary and cannabis stores, says company co-founder Arne Nelson.

“We have regular customers, many of whom are literally our neighbors, who have been coming in since we opened our first store in 2015,” he says. Part of that loyalty, Nelson adds, stems from Evergreen’s approach to people. “We treat all of our customers as individuals, with their own specific wants and needs.”

Seniors (60-plus) and military veterans hold a special place in Evergreen’s neighborhoods, which is why the company offers them an everyday 15-per cent discount off regular prices.

Whether you’re a regular cannabis consumer, a first-timer or reaquainting yourself with what’s new, you’ll appreciate the welcoming atmosphere at Evergreen’s newest location in Bellevue, says store manager Rachael Draper. “We’ve created a very inclusive environment where we serve people at all levels of usage,” she says.

With staff educators on hand at all times – a feature in all Evergreen stores – newcomers are the time to learn about the wide range of products, their suggested uses and which option might best serve their desired purpose. “We want to send someone out the door with products they love, that are suited to how they want to feel or how they want their day to unfold,” Draper says.

Kirkland crew helpful, too

The area of cannabis is constantly changing, with new products coming on the market, often for very specific uses, says Dylan Buhl, Evergreen’s Kirkland store manager. That’s why it’s important that staff members are constantly updating their knowledge, he adds.

“We take time to explain the products and make sure we’re getting them a product that fits their needs,” Buhl says. “Most of the locals we see are fairly educated, but we often get newcomers who are looking for something different or a new experience. Whether it’s doing public outreach at senior centres or in store, we love to educate people.”
