For the past few week, school students of all ages have been busy preparing their entries for “Reflections”, a national art expression, achievement and recognition program.

The purpose of the program is to encourage students to create original works of art across a wide range of mediums, from works of fiction, short stories, and music composition, to photography, painting, computer-generated artwork, and even dance choreography.

This year, all the works will be tied together by the theme “Beauty is…,” encouraging the artists to explore where they believe beauty lies in our world and our society.

This year The Reporter will be visiting as many area schools as we can manage, to take photos of the Reflections entries and give much deserved exposure to the young artists in our community.

The week, we feature works from Apollo Elementary School.

In coming weeks, schools will be judging the works and selecting the lucky few to go on to state and national levels of the Reflections competition.
