City Brief: Beaver Lake discussions continue

Next week, Thursday, Sept. 3, the City of Sammamish will host the third in a series of public meetings on the Beaver Lake Park Master Plan.

Beaver Lake Park is an 83 acre park in the southeast corner of the Plateau.

After being transfered from King County to the city in January of 2003, the park has become one of the most popular recreation facilities in the area.

Increasing usage, from residents of Sammamish and many outside the city limits, prompted city staff to begin drafting a plan to regulate long term management of the park.

Parks and Recreation staff have expressed a desire to avoid allowing any development to occur on an ad-hoc basis, instead encouraging work on the park to follow a consistent plan which it hopes will continue to satisfy the demands of park users.

The meeting will take place at Beaver Lake Lodge at 6.30 p.m.

Consultant, The Berger Partnership, have come up with three varying draft plans, ‘B’, ‘L’ and ‘P’, each of which differs in its projections of swimming and fishing facilities, the development of synthetic sports fields, and the continued operation of an off-leash dog area, among other issues.
