City looking for a new council member to replace Maureen McCarry

Issaquah is looking for a new city council member to fill in for Maureen McCarry, who resigned after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease in December.

The new candidate won’t serve the remaining three years of McCarry’s term, but instead would serve until a new council member is elected in November.

Residents can apply through Feb. 4. After holding public interviews, city council will appoint someone March 7.

Applicants must have lived in the city for at least one year, be registered to vote and at least 18-years-old.

To apply, fill out a city application and send a letter of interest to the City Clerk’s Office, tinae@ci.issaquah.wa.us or P.O. Box 1307, Issaquah, WA 98027.
