Eastside Catholic teens are National Merit semifinalists

Roger Glerum and John Snyder, both from Redmond, qualified for the annual competition through their PSAT scores.

Eastside Catholic students Roger Glerum and John Snyder are semifinalists for 2014 National Merit Scholarships, according to a release from the private secondary school.

The teens, both from Redmond, qualified for the annual competition through their PSAT scores.

Glerum is a Boy Scout, musician and drummer with the national Sound of America summer program, Principal Polly Skinner said.

Snyder is an accomplished Advanced Placement student, pianist, and athlete associated with the Sammamish Rowing Association Boys Team.

After qualifying for competition Merit Scholars are selected on the strength of their academic skills  and extracurricular accomplishments as they may relate to success in college.
