EvergreenHealth Board of Commissioners is seeking interested residents for Position 3, representing the Redmond/Sammamish communities. The board opening is the result of R. August “Auggie” Kempf’s retirement from the board on Sept. 3.

Interested residents who want to apply for the position must do so by Friday, Oct. 7. Applications are available at evergreenhealth.com/board-expansion.

As a public district health care system, EvergreenHealth is governed by a Board of Commissioners, which is currently comprised of five members, each elected by the voters in the district to serve a six-year term. The board provides governance and accountability for EvergreenHealth’s mission, vision and purpose, quality, service and overall effectiveness, through collaboration and counsel to the system’s CEO.

While Kempf anticipated vacating his position at the close of his term, he opted to end his service early. The commissioner appointed to replace Kempf in Position 3 will fulfill the existing term through Dec. 31, 2017, and then may choose to run for office in the 2017 general election.

The prospective commissioner should be a resident of King County Public Health District No. 2, sub-district in Redmond/Sammamish, be a registered voter, be engaged in the community, have a track record of public and community service, understand and honor the role of governance, represent the diversity of the community, be willing to serve 15-20 hours per month, be willing to provide public disclosure and have no conflicts of interest and not employed by KCPHD or EvergreenHealth.
