ISSAQUAH BLOTTER: Police catch racers on Gilman

A compilation of police incidents in the City of Issaquah: Police pulled over two drivers who were racing their cars down Northwest Gilman Boulevard Jan. 1 at about 1:45 a.m.

The following information was compiled from City of Issaquah police reports:

-Police pulled over two drivers who were racing their cars down Northwest Gilman Boulevard Jan. 1 at about 1:45 a.m. The officer heard the high pitch of the racing engines as they passed side-by-side, “obviously engaging in contest of speeds.” The officer estimated the cars got up to 45-50 mph in a 35 mph zone, before he stopped them. Both drivers were issued warnings.

-Police contacted a resident after parking a vehicle on the curb of an intersection, in the wrong direction and in front of a fire hydrant on the corner of Dorado and Cappella drives Northwest Dec. 30. It was parked improperly because of the snow.

-A woman assaulted a bartender and another woman on the 100 block of Front Street South Dec. 31, and then fled. The bartender said she punched and slapped him 2-3 times, and he didn’t want to pursue charges.

-A man found a Social Security card in between some flat-rate boxes he purchased from the Issaquah Post Office Jan. 4. He turned it into police.

-Police threw a snowball at a bedroom window, after residents didn’t answer the door on the 2500 block Northeast Jared Court Jan. 5. The officer was responding to a barking dog complaint.

-A man shot himself in the left hand after trying to unload his handgun Dec. 30 on the 1600 block of Northeast Katsura Street.

-A 27-year-old Sammamish man was arrested for DUI and reckless driving on East Lake Sammamish Parkway on Jan. 1.

-A front door window was broken and flat screen TV boosted from the 400 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard on Dec. 30.

-Some youths were asked to leave the 1700 block of Highlands Drive Northeast after skateboarding Dec. 30.

-Police responded to shouts of a man yelling inside an apartment Jan. 3 on the 100 block of First Avenue Northwest. They determined that he was heavily intoxicated and venting his frustrations about his ex-girlfriend who was with his best friend.

-Police were called to investigate a dead deer partially on the roadway at Southeast 43rd Way, just west of the City Church entrance Jan. 2.

-A 30-year-old North Bend man was arrested for fourth-degree domestic assault Dec. 31 on the 300 block of Southeast Darst Street.

-Someone burglarized a hair salon on the 200 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard Dec. 31, taking $25 in merchandise and breaking a window.

-A resident complained of credit card fraud after finding 13 transactions, totaling $895, on his or her card Dec. 30.

-Police helped a blind person who got off the bus at the wrong stop, and was trying to get to the Village Theatre on Dec. 28.

-A 43-year-old woman was arrested for stealing pants and a hoody, worth $131, on the 1800 block of 10th Avenue Northwest on Dec. 28.

-A 36-year-old man was arrested for a driving under the influence on the 300 block of Southeast Andrews Street on Jan. 3.

-A woman called police, worried about her 60-year-old father who didn’t come home the night of Jan. 3. She said there is nothing unusual about her father that he’d do something like that.

-Police were called after a man complained to a store about people feeding a dog he had tied up outside on the 100 block of Front Street South on Jan. 4.
