ISSAQUAH BLOTTER: Woman reports UFOs after seeing two news helicopters

A selection of reported police incidents in the City of Issaquah.

The following information was compiled from City of Issaquah police reports:

An Issaquah woman called police to report two UFOs outside her window Feb. 4. The officer advised her that it was likely two news helicopters were nearby taking footage of a dump truck that had gotten stuck in some power lines on the 1300 block of Northwest Mall Street. Multiple agencies responded to the incident with the truck, which was quickly unstuck without incident.

-A man called police after getting locked in a cemetery Feb. 6 on the 100 block of Mt. Olympus Drive Southwest.

-A thief snatched six wheels off of two cars at about 9 a.m. Feb. 4 on the 200 block of Southwest Clark Street. The Volvo and Volkswagen tires totaled about $1,800.

-The Issaquah School District called police after finding a hammock was setup behind the administration offices on Holly Street Feb. 3. Apparently a neighbor set them up to test them for an upcoming backcountry trip.

-A man called police to have them kick out a woman who had been living in his garage for two months on the 100 block of Southeast Bush Street Feb. 4. Police told him they couldn’t just walk in and kick someone out of a home.

-A man was so severely drunk he was transported to the hospital by Eastside Fire 3 p.m., Feb. 4.

-A caller reported a reckless driver in a car with a missing driver’s window, which was closed up with plastic Feb. 4 on the Issaquah Hobart Road.

-When someone complained about some kids skateboarding on the 100 block of Front Street, the officer showed them a better place to skate Feb 5.

-A 14-year-old babysitter was watching a kid, when a teenage boy rang the doorbell and tried turning the door knob. The sitter made contact through the closed door, when he asked her if her parents were home Feb. 5.

-Someone broke into an office to steal several items including business records on the 600 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard Feb. 6. A business owner replaced all the locks.

-Police were called to check on a man sleeping in his car on the 700 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard Feb. 2.

-Police warned a renter for playing music too loud Feb. 8 on the 100 block of First Avenue Northwest.

-Police assisted Eastside Fire with a man who was passed out drunk on the 200 block of Newport Way Southwest Feb. 3.

-Someone turned in $630 of found cash to the police department Jan. 28.

-A man walking his dog reported almost being hit by a female driving a 1995 Honda at Newport Way Southwest and Wildwood Boulevard Southwest on Feb. 1. He took down the driver’s license plate number.

-Two backpacks were reported stolen from the 300 block of Rainier Boulevard South on Feb. 1.

-A 21-year-old Carnation man was arrested for second degree vehicle prowl on the 600 block of Front Street North on Feb. 1.

-Police helped a driver after their wheel fell off while driving at the intersection of Southeast 56th Street and East Lake Sammamish Parkway on Jan. 28.

-A 31-year-old Issaquah man was arrested for driving drunk, and his passenger was arrested for obstructing an officer on Front Street North and Gilman Boulevard on Jan. 29.

-About $750 in copper wire was stolen from the 700 block of Northeast Blakely Drive on Jan. 29.

-A 2007 Toyota was broken into, causing $750 damage, but nothing was taken on West Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast and 184th on Jan. 25.

-Police responded to a minor car collision after a car hit a Honeybucket truck on the 700 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard on Jan. 25.

-A thief broke into a 2006 Ford, attempted to start the vehicle and stole a backpack on the 1000 block of 17th Avenue Northwest. The total loss was about $1,400.

-Police responded to a call from a child who said her mother was lying on the ground unresponsive. It turns out the call was a hoax and the mother was OK on the 200 block of Southwest Clark Street on Jan. 21.

-A thief punched out a lock on a 2003 GMC, stole a charger and a GPS, totaling $240, on the 1600 block of Northwest Sammamish Road on Jan. 21.

-There was a report of two people smoking marijuana outside a hotel on the 1800 block of 15th Place Northwest on Jan. 22.

-Officers contacted two 13-year-olds who were out wondering about at 1 a.m. on the 1600 block of 24th Place Northeast on Jan. 22, a Saturday. The youths lied to police about having permission to be out, and when police asked for their home address and number to confirm, they wouldn’t say. After some talking, the officers got enough information to call the youths’ parents, who didn’t know they were out.

-Police were called to investigate people possibly dumpster diving behind the Costco in Issaquah. Police saw the dumpster was open and a car was parked next to it, but it didn’t appear that anyone went into the dumpster Jan. 22.

-A thief busted a window in a Toyota to steal a purse, and then used the victim’s credit card to spend $915 on Jan. 22.

-A $15 bouquet of flowers was reported stolen from the Front Street Market Jan. 23.

-A girl parked her car at her parents house while she went to school in Utah, when she returned to find it had been sold three times by an unknown person from the 4200 block of 187th Place Southeast on Jan. 23.

-A parent accidentally locked his or her child inside a car and called police for help on the 100 block of East Sunset Way on Jan. 24. A friend soon after arrived with a key to unlock the car.

-Someone broke into a work box and stole five gas cans, worth $120, on the 600 block of Northwest Juniper Street on Jan. 24.

-There was a burglary at a storage unit, loss of about $20, on Northwest Maple Street on Jan. 24.

-Someone called police after a person claiming to be from Comcast was attempting to solicit personal information and possibly casing the home on the 23100 block of Southeast Black Nugget Road Jan. 24.

-Police helped out with a 15-year-old boy throwing a tantrum over his cell phone on the 4700 block of 193rd Place Southeast on Jan. 24. The boy had recently been released from inpatient anger management program in Oregon.
