Issaquah Creek floods roads | Flood watch hits Phase 2 Wednesday morning

The National Weather Service's flood warning was scheduled to remain in effect through 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Flooding that began in Issaquah Creek Tuesday night led to water over roadways by Wednesday morning, with one road closed to traffic.

Officials closed Newport Way Southwest to traffic from Wildwood Boulevard to Front Street Wednesday morning. The road is a primary route for truck traffic and city spokespeople urged truck drivers to find alternate routes. Police and public works employees were on the scene.

Meanwhile, water washed over the roadway on Sycamore Drive Southeast shortly before 7:16 a.m., according to the City of Issaquah’s Twitter account. An easement road was opened between Sycamore Drive Southeast and Sunrise Place Southeast.

The National Weather Service placed Issaquah on flood watch Tuesday evening, upgrading the situation to a flood warning early Wednesday morning. The flood warning was scheduled to remain in effect through 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Rain is forecasted to continue with a high likelihood through Sunday.
