Issaquah officials warn citizens to prepare early for evening high winds

The National Weather Service has warned of high wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour developing after 6 p.m. this evening. Puget Sound Energy has set up emergency response teams in case of outages. More than 30 teams have been gathered from as far as Eastern Washington and British Columbia, according to the energy company's Flickr page.

The City of Issaquah is advising citizens to prepare for possible power outages that could result from today’s forecasted winds.

The National Weather Service has warned of high wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour developing after 6 p.m. this evening. Puget Sound Energy has set up emergency response teams in case of outages. More than 30 teams have been gathered from as far as Eastern Washington and British Columbia, according to the energy company’s Flickr page.

Issaquah officials are recommending households put together a family emergency preparedness kit including a battery powered radio, flashlights, a corded phone, enough food and water to last for several days and extra batteries compatible with all emergency appliances.

The City’s radio station, which broadcasts necessary information during emergencies, is 1700 AM.

As of this writing, there is a power outage affecting 125 Sammamish citizens in the vicinity of Beaver Lake Way Southeast, north of Klahanie. It began at 10 a.m. and is expected to last until 4 p.m.
