The nine people who applied to an empty Issaquah city council position are expected to interview with the council Tuesday night.

The former councilmember, Maureen McCarry, stepped down in January after being diagnosed with ALS, commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The council plans to choose a replacement to serve out the year. Although McCarry had several years left in her term, her seat will be up for grabs in November.

The council’s vote is planned for the next council meeting March 7. The interviews are open to the public, but a closed executive session is scheduled to follow.

Each applicant gets a 10 minute interview, and their order is done by name drawing.

The candidates are Michael Beard, Joe Forkner, Stacy Goodman, Cristina Mehling, Nina Milligan, Erik Olson, Mary Lou Pauly, Nathan Perea and Paul Winterstein. Their complete applications can be read on the city’s website.
