Police chase down escaped goats | The Issaquah Blotter

A compilation of events according to Issaquah police reports.

The following information was compiled from city of Issaquah police reports:

Police officers played the role of ranchers on Cougar Mountain last week, after residents asked for help trying to herd escaped goats.

At first, the officer met a citizen walking a goat on a dog leash back to its field on Northwest Village Park Drive on July 26.

All seemed to be under control, when the officer turned to leave, but a citizen yelled that more goats had escaped.

The officer was busy trying to herd five of them back to their pen, when another 20 goats escaped. The officer called for backup.

While two officers tried rounding them up, dispatch learned that public works was renting the goats to do some land clearing.

With the help of another officer and some public works employees, they were able to herd them back into the fenced area and stand guard until the owner could secure the fence.

On the run, but not for long

A man was so well known to Issaquah police, when one officer saw him running away from a tavern and down East Sunset Way, they ran a background check to see if he had any warrants.

The man had a warrant out of Snoqualmie for driving without a license.

Police caught up to him a couple blocks away and arrested him July 26.

Shoplift arrest uncovers marijuana

When police took a 14-year-old into custody for shoplifting a case of soda pop, they found a cashew can with some marijuana in his backpack.

The boy was at a grocery store on Front Street when an employee saw him open his backpack and put the soda bottles inside July 28.

After police took him into custody, he admitted he had the drugs in his bag, but said they were a friend’s.

The teen then made things worse for himself, giving police the wrong name.

He gave in when he realized his father couldn’t pick him up without the right name.
