Issaquah police are looking into an allegation that a Medina police officer raped a woman in his Issaquah Highlands home last November.

The alleged rape was the result of a routine traffic stop on state Route 520, where the officer cited a woman for driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana, according to court documents.

While the woman was handcuffed in the backseat of the patrol car, the officer told her repeatedly that she was “attractive and beautiful”; he also “reached over to fix her scarf and put his hand on her,” according to the documents.

She then asked him not to cite her for the marijuana, and he told her that the “charges would go away,” the documents stated.

The woman then reported that the officer called her the next morning and asked her to meet him for a date at Joker Pub & Grill, 5614 E. Lake Sammamish Parkway S.E. She agreed, but said she wouldn’t have sex on the first date, according to the documents.

They then went back to his Highlands home, where the officer is accused of ignoring her protests when he “took her hands and put them above her head, then raped her,” according to the documents.

The incident came to attention last month while King County Sheriff’s detectives were investigating the woman’s boyfriend for sexual assault.

The 30-year-old officer has been working for the Medina Police for four years, and has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Issaquah Police stated that the investigation is “ongoing,” and declined to comment.

No arrests have been made, and no one has been charged with a crime.
