Registration is coming to a close this Friday for a March 5 high school career fair.

Great Careers 2015 will take place 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 5 at Mary, Queen of Peace parish in Sammamish.

The event is organized by the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce’s education committee to educate high school students in or past their sophomore year about careers that require a two-year degree or certification. The event is open to students from Issaquah, Skyline, Liberty and Tiger Mountain Community high schools.

From an Issaquah School District press release: “Many career opportunities are available to students who do not plan to attend a four year [sic] college. Post-secondary career and technical training programs provide the skills needed for high wage jobs in a number of fields,” including gaming, graphic arts, cosmetology, culinary arts, law enforcement, emergency medical and fire response, automotive care, nursing, dental care and veterinary care.

Professionals in the above fields will be on hand to share information about their career paths.

Lunch and bussing will be provided.

Interested students can register with their school’s career counselor or online at careerandcounseling.org.

Mary, Queen of Peace is located at 1121 228th Ave. S.E. in Sammamish.
