Sammamish Community Garden grand opener benefits Month of Concern

The 58-plot do-it-yourself garden opened in May to winners of a city lottery, but held its grand opening Harvest Party on Sunday.

Come rain or sleet or snow, the Sammamish Community Garden keeps on growing.

The 58-plot do-it-yourself garden opened in May to winners of a city lottery, but held its official grand opening Sunday.

The Harvest Party, planned to be the first of more, invited citizens to learn more about the facility and enjoy music from live bluegrass band Pickled Okra.

The first day of fall rained on the party, but the garden still brought in nonperishable donations to benefit Eastside’s Month of Concern for the Hungry.
