A youth suicide prevention seminar will be held at the Issaquah Library 6:30-8 p.m. tonight, March 31.

“Walking Through the Darkness: Understanding the language of suicidal youth” will be presented by the Contextual-Conceptual Therapy Center of Seattle. The seminar has been arranged by Friends of Youth with the assistance of the Issaquah Schools Foundation.

Contexual-Conceptual Therapy is a suicide prevention method developed by therapist Frederic Matteson based on his work with 16,000 suicidal patients at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way. The method uses a combination of arts, education and traditional therapy to help patients get to the root of their thinking and develop methods of self-care, according to the Center’s website.

Interested persons can RSVP for seminar at www.signupforms.com/registrations/7061. More info can be found by emailing jerry@friendsofyouth.org.

Issaquah Library will also host mental-illness art exhibit “The Incredible Intensity of Just Being Human” beginning April 22. The exhibit is being sponsored by artEAST and the Issaquah Schools Foundation.
