As FBI agents and the Sammamish Police Department narrow in on the suspect who threatened to shoot up Skyline High School, the district has decided to resume classes Friday.

Police haven’t identified the exact origin of the post, but they have discovered notes of almost the exact same nature – including those targeting neighboring districts – have been circulating on the site for several years.

No action has ever resulted from those posts. The posts have been used in the past to create a social reaction. This time the school shut down classes Thursday, according to an Issaquah School District release.

Police called in technical experts to analyze a photo of a submachine gun posted with the threats.Friday classes are scheduled to start late at 9:55 a.m. Concerned parents can arrive at 8:30 a.m. at the Olympic Gym to ask safety questions.

Police will be on campus all day and accompanying Skyline’s football team to its away game. All sports activities are scheduled to resume per usual.

The district cannot give 100-percent certainty that the school will be safe, but has done everything it can to feel confident that classes can resume, according to the release.
