The city of Issaquah will host an open house on the business and occupation tax 5:30-7 p.m. Monday night in the City Hall Eagle Room.
Under Mayor Fred Butler’s proposed budget for 2015, the B&O tax rate would increase.
Currently, the rate for manufacture, wholesale and retail businesses is 0.08 percent of gross income, while the rate for all other businesses is 0.1 percent.
Under the proposal, the rates would rise April 1 to 0.15 percent and 0.12 percent, respectively. The 0.15 percent rate would increase again to 0.2 percent in 2016.
However, the rate increase would be coupled with an increase on the revenue floor determining which businesses are exempt from paying the tax at all. The exemption would rise to $100,000, from $20,000.
The Issaquah city council will hold a budget work session Tuesday night. They will hold a public hearing on revenue sources for the 2015 budget Nov. 3.
