UPDATE | Thousands affected by power outages in Sammamish and Issaquah; power mostly restored in Sammamish

Update: As of Tuesday at 7 p.m., little more than 3,000 Sammamish residents and nearly 550 Issaquah citizens are without power, according to Puget Sound Energy’s outage map. PSE crews are deploying as outages occur and as conditions safely allow them to do so. PSE reminds people to not touch downed power lines; always assume they are energized. To report a downed power line, call PSE at 1-888-225-5773 or 9-1-1.

Update: As of Tuesday at 2:35 p.m., more than 4,400 Sammamish residents and more than 400 Issaquah citizens are without power, according to Puget Sound Energy’s outage map. Strong winds are expected to continue until 4 p.m.

 

High winds and rain are causing power outages for more than 3,000 Sammamish electric customers Tuesday and nearly 300 customers in the nearby Issaquah Highlands.

According to Puget Sound Energy’s outage map, 3,259 customers’ power went out in the area northwest of the intersection of Southeast 48th Street and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Southeast. The power outage was reported at 9:34 a.m. and was expected to be fixed by noon.

Meanwhile, in the Issaquah Highlands near Grandview Park, 273 customers are experiencing outages reported at 9:43 a.m. That outage was also estimated to be fixed by noon.

More limited outages were reported in the vicinity of Northeast Logan Street, 11th Lane Northeast and a residential neighborhood south of Eastside Fire and Rescue Headquarters on Newport Way Northwest.

The @wsdot_traffic twitter account reported an outage at the Front Street/Interstate 90 traffic light at 10:35 a.m.

Spokespeople operating the @cityofissaquah Twitter account reminded followers Tuesday morning to report outages to PSE and treat nonfunctioning traffic light intersections as four way stops.
