Sept. 16

CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Police contacted management at Jackson’s Shell in the 100 block of E. Sunset Way at 12:25 p.m. after the report of a theft. A man was captured on surveillance video taking an energy drink from a cooler and stuffing it in his sweatshirt.

SPOKE TOO SOON: At 2:01 p.m., a woman called police saying that her car had been stolen from the parking lot of Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria, located in the 700 block of NW Gilman Blvd. Upon arrival, police were able to locate the car on the south side of the restaurant. Police contacted the woman and showed her where she had parked.

Sept. 17

PUMPKIN PILFERING: Two subjects were observed stealing a pumpkin at 12:02 a.m. from an outdoor stand in the 700 block of NW Gilman Blvd. They returned the pumpkin before police arrived at the scene.

LYING TO COPS: A man called 911 at 12:22 a.m. from an emergency phone in the 1500 block of NW Maple St. He reported to dispatch that he had argued with his girlfriend, during which time she had hit him. When police made contact with the man, he said that his girlfriend actually hadn’t hit him, and that he had only said she had because he was mad at her.

RUNNERS AND GUNNERS: A woman reported at 1:10 p.m. that she had seen two females running through the trails near the 2100 block of Squak Mountain Loop SW carrying guns. Police checked the woods, but found no one with weapons.

MARY POPPINS WASN’T THERE: Police responded at 2:46 p.m. to a report of an umbrella blowing across the roadway at Southeast Issaquah-Fall City Road and East Lake Sammamish Parkway. Sure enough, law enforcement found a large umbrella on the shoulder of Issaquah-Fall City Road. Police removed the renegade umbrella.

Sept. 18

CARTED OFF BY COPS: Police received an email complaint from a resident of the 1300 block of Williamsburg Walk NE, who said that a Safeway shopping cart has been in front of their home for the past six months. At 6:25 p.m., police contacted the homeowner and returned the shopping cart to Safeway.

DRUNK ON A BUS: Police contacted an intoxicated subject on a Metro bus at 8:06 p.m. in the 1000 block of 17th Ave. NW. The subject was able to communicate and demonstrate to police that he was sober enough to function. The subject was asked to leave the bus. He complied.

Sept. 19

PARKING LOT OR NIGHTCLUB: Police received a report of a juvenile problem at 8:24 p.m. in the 1400 block of Highlands Drive NE. Police contacted the juveniles, who were smoking and dancing in the parking lot. The juveniles posed many hypothetical questions about traffic enforcement, which police answered.

Sept. 20

PARANOID: A suspicious backpack that had been left unattended in the hallway of Issaquah High School was reported to police at 12:29 p.m. Some students were afraid that it could contain a bomb. Issaquah High School was immediately evacuated, and police located and checked the backpack. No weapons or bombs were found. The backpack was returned to its owner, who had simply forgotten it in the hallway.

Sept. 21

CREEPY COSMETICS: A woman returned to her car, which was parked in the 1000 block of Fifth Ave. NW, to find a small cloth bag on her windshield. The woman was afraid to touch the bag and called police. Upon arrival, police found lipstick and eyeliner in the bag. The makeup was thrown in the garbage.

UNWANTED GAME OF TAG: A man reported being chased down Newport Way Northwest at 9:13 p.m. as he had been walking to Target. The man could not identify the person who had chased him. Police were unable to locate the suspicious pursuer.
