Young students dig deep in senior year

One of the great traditions of Eastside Rotary groups is their support of young students who are doing their best to succeed, as students and as people. In October the Rotary Club of Redmond applauded the efforts Eastlake High School seniors Natalie White and Callum Court, honoring them with Students of the Month awards.

One of the great traditions of Eastside Rotary groups is their support of young students who are doing their best to succeed, as students and as people. In October the Rotary Club of Redmond applauded the efforts Eastlake High School seniors Natalie White and Callum Court, honoring them with Students of the Month awards.

White was nominated in recognition of her hard work, particularly in the humanities, but also her maturity and positive attitude in dealing with serious medical issues in her life. As a young child she was diagnosed with brain cancer. The resulting surgery impacted memory and caused other academic difficulties.

Despite these setbacks she is a model of success, had a 3.1 GPA, and is planning for a career in the medical field.

Court was nominated for his dramatic turnaround in academic performance, attitude and maturity level from sophomore to senior year. He struggled academically his sophomore year. But, after deciding to repeat the year has worked much harder, and the results are showing.

Congratulations to these fine young people, and to all students out there doing their best in and out of the classroom.
