Each vote counts, each student counts | Letter

I enthusiastically support the upcoming Issaquah School District bond. Every vote will count as our district is seeking to secure the funding necessary to meet the annual projected growth of 350 to 400 students over the next five years. I believe each of these students will count for the future.

In my own family, we experienced what this district’s approach can accomplish nine years ago when we moved to the Highlands and our daughter enrolled and thrived in her local high school. Her experience in sports medicine influenced her decision to study health and study health in college. She is thriving as a medical assistant in a local hospital’s surgery ward. The expansion of high school campuses is meeting the challenge of holistic education head-on that opens doors for students to explore and thrive in their interests.

This year our grandson entered the district from out of state, and enrolled in an Issaquah School District high school. The high school robotics competition sparked his interest in science. He is thriving in the outcome-based approach to learning that helps each student’s education count for the future.

As a community organizer, father and grandfather, I enthusiastically support the proactive way the Issaquah School District is planning for future students. Every vote will count because every student counts!
