Eastside Catholic defeats Gonzaga Prep in battle of powerhouses

In a matchup featuring the 2015 Class 3A state champions (Eastside Catholic) and the Class 4A state champs (Gonzaga Prep), the Eastside Catholic Crusaders reigned supreme. The Crusaders registered a 21-7 win against the visiting Bullpups from Spokane in front of a packed house on Sept. 2 at Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish. The Crusaders (1-0) will host Skyview in a non-league game at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish.

Skyline loses opener against Richland

The Richland Bombers defeated the Skyline Spartans 38-27 in a non-league game in a matchup between perennial football powerhouses on Sept. 2 in the Tri-Cities. Skyline (0-1) will face Gonzaga Prep in a rematch of last year’s Class 4A state championship game at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 in Spokane.

Archbishop Murphy rolls over Issaquah

Archbishop Murphy defeated the Issaquah Eagles 73-0 in a non-league matchup on Sept. 2 in Everett. The Eagles (0-1) will face Lincoln (Oregon) at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 in Portland in a non-league game.
