The state swim and dive competition begins on Friday, Feb. 17 at 9 a.m. at King County Aquatic Center with the 3A preliminaries and continues through the following day with the 2A finals as the final event on Saturday evening. The 4A finals are scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Eastlake sophomore sensation Ed Kim continues his quest for the maximum eight individuals titles at state and will be the top seed with an All-American consideration times of 1:41.11 in the 200 free and 51.01 in the 100 back, where he will be challenged by top seeded junior Logan Rysemus of Stadium.
The Wolves earned the fourth best seed time in the 400 free relay, the fifth seed time in the 200 medley relay (1:42.46) and the eighth seed in the 200 free relay. Antoine Signoretty will take his final shot at the state dive competition from the 10th slot, freshman Jackson Berman will swim in the 500 free as the 17th seed.
Senior Zach Alleva enters his final state meet as the third seed in the 100 breast.
Issaquah has a handful of competitors at state and will be led by the efforts of Austin Melody, Ben Nussbaum and Ben Ruggles.
Melody (seventh) and Nussbaum (11th) will both swim the 200 IM and Ruggles owns the third best seed time in the 50 free at 22.02 and the 100 free at 48.88. The duo will also be in the 100 breast where Melody is seeded third and Nussbaum 16th. David Nam is seeded 10th and 12th in 50 free and 100 free respectively and freshman Gabe Florsheim will take the seventh seed to the preliminaries in his first state meet in the 100 fly.
Issaquah has the top seed in the 200 free relay at 1:30.17 and is seeded fifth in the 400 free relay as well.
William Mastuda is the eighth seed in the 100 back and the Eagles will have the second seed time in the 200 medley relay at 1:39.22.
Skyline junior Max Levy earned the highest seed in the diving competition, nearly 30 points in front of second seeded Jesse Dehnert of Kentwood. Alec Raines is the fourth seed in the 500 free and the 13th seed in the 200 free.
The Spartans are the 21st seeded team in the 200 free relay.
