The group of players from Issaquah, Skyline and Newport held a 7-5 lead over Woodinville in the bottom of the eighth inning.

After recording an out, the Falcons drilled back-to-back singles setting up a three-run blast off the bat of Matthew Laitala. Caleb Hamilton followed with another home run off reliever Levi Novak, giving Woodinville a 9-7 lead.

Lakeside’s hopes of a comeback were erased in the top of the ninth inning as they went down 1-2-3.

Danny Rawlings (Issaquah) led Lakeside at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two walks and an RBI. Ioannis Kritsonis (Newport) and Jake Chinery (Newport) added RBI hits for Lakeside.

Lakeside won the Gonzaga bracket, starting the tournament off with wins over Mead (6-2) and Gonzaga Prep (8-6). They fell to Burlington (5-4) before battling back to defeat Kennewick (14-9), Burlington (8-3) and Burlington (8-7) once more.

Woodinville went undefeated through the University bracket on its way to the title game.
