Mitchell Kim knotted the score 1-1 in the 65th minute, scoring on an assist from Ben Molyneux Elliot. Braxton Griffin then placed the game winner in the net in the 77th minute on an assist from Jake Bechtel.

Issaquah took the initial lead on an unassisted goal from Alex Shane in the 54th minute.

Skyline improved to 3-1-0 in league and 6-2-1 overall. Issaquah dropped to 2-1-1 in league and 4-4-1 overall.

BASEBALL

Issaquah earns another win at Safeco Field

Issaquah got off to a hot start Saturday afternoon and held on to defeat Kentridge 11-8 in the High School Baseball Classic at Safeco Field.

The Eagles started the game off with three consecutive hits, including an RBI single from Spencer Rogers. Issaquah eventually pushed across five runs in the inning.

Kentridge battled back in the bottom half of the first for four runs, but Isssaquah never surrendered the lead.

Mike Paulson helped preserve the victory earning the save. He recorded two strikeouts and a pop out with the tying run at the plate.

Issaquah was led by Rogers, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Hunter Heatly had a two-run double in the top of the seventh, and leadoff hitter Grant Gellatly was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Eagles sit at 5-2 in league and 9-2 overall. They are scheduled to host Bothell (4-3, 8-3) at 3:45 p.m., today.

Skyline edges Liberty

Jake Opitz delivered an RBI single for Skyline in the bottom of the sixth inning, helping the Spartans earn a 1-0 victory over non-league Liberty Saturday afternoon.

The play was set up after Anthony DeMatteo earned a walk, stole second and moved to third on a groundout. Opitz delivered the game-winning hit on an 0-2 count.

Five Skyline pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout. Brandon Lundeberg earned the victory, closing out the seventh inning.

Skyline is now 2-4 in league and 4-6 overall. The Spartans are scheduled to face Roosevelt at 3:45 p.m., today at SHS.

Eastlake drops fourth straight

Eastlake dropped its fourth straight game, falling 10-7 to Lake Washington Friday afternoon.

The Wolves started quickly, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. The Kangaroos responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, before scoring three more in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Sam Nasci was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Joe Johnson was 1-for-3 with two RBI for Eastlake.

Lake Washington was led by Bob Cruikshank, who was 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Eastlake fell to 1-6 in league and 1-9 overall with the loss. The Wolves are scheduled to face Woodinville at 3:45 p.m., today at EHS.

BOYS LACROSSE

Lynnwood knocks off D-I Eastside Catholic

Senior captain Trey Knowles scored four goals to lead Lynnwood to an 11–8 boys high school lacrosse upset over Division I Eastside Catholic, Saturday at Eastside Catholic.

Sam Girgus had 11 saves in the win, as first-place Lynnwood advanced to 6-1-0 on the season.

Eastside Catholic dropped to 2-5-0 as Michael Rambaldini led all Crusader scorers with four goals and seven ground balls and Bradnon Veyette had 13 saves.

Eagles edged by Islanders

Mercer Island edged Issaquah 9-7 Friday night to stay undefeated in Division I lacrosse.

Senior Jonathan Wettack scored three goals as Mercer Island improved to a perfect 10-0.

The score was 5-5 at the half. After matching goals in the third period, the Islanders pulled away with three goals in the fourth behind three ground balls and four turnovers by long-stick defender Conner Beckwith.

Issaquah’s Jake Fritz had four goals and goaltender O’Neil Hughes had seven saves as the Eagles fell to 7-3.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Issaquah girls stay undefeated

Issaquah earned two wins over the weekend, capped by a 19-5 Division II victory over Wenatchee Saturday at Beaver Lake Middle School.

Brittany Hogan scored four goals and collected six ground balls to lead the Eagles to a perfect 6-0 record. Callie Hahn had six saves in goal for Issaquah.

Haley Mincin scored four goals and won 11 draw controls Friday to lead Issaquah to a 17–3 girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Lake Sammamish at Marymoor Park.
