Despite the threat of strikes by Allied Waste and Waste Management workers, as of Thursday morning garbage collection services in Issaquah and Sammamish were expected to be unaffected.

According to the cities, which have been monitoring the negotiations between the garbage collection companies and their employees, both trash-hauling companies will be working on Thursday, April 1.

Allied Waste has reached a tentative agreement with its employees, while Waste Management is still negotiating.

This past weekend, workers at both companies had voted to authorize a strike. Sammamish and Issaquah residents are served by both Allied Waste and Waste Management.

In the event of a service disruption, the City of Issaquah and the City of Sammamish will work with Waste Management and Allied Waste to ensure the companies’ contingency plans are implemented.
