The Issaquah Highland’s master developer sold 48 of its custom home lots on Harrison Street this week.

The $6.3 million purchase, which took up a significant part of Port Blakely’s remaining land, moved the developer a step closer to completing the housing phase of the Highlands.

The neighborhood, which tops the hill with spectacular views, has spots for about 90 homes.

It’s another positive announcement for a community hit hard by the recession.

A number of Highlands projects are planning to open this summer, including Swedish Medical Center’s new hospital, the YWCA’s Family Village and the luxury Discovery Heights apartments.

The Park Pointe deal, which lead to the city selling land in the Highlands, also means Bellevue College could open a new campus there.

“I think there is a lot of economic vitality going on in the Issaquah Highlands,” said spokesperson Chris Hysom.

Blakely still hasn’t announced plans to develop land set aside for retail, but it’s been rumored they could cut a deal sometime this year.

The Harrison Street properties were sold to Taylor Development, a Bellevue-based real estate firm.

It has a long-term approach to development, which is good for this particular neighborhood, Hysom said. “I think it shows their commitment to quality.”

As a master developer, Blakely built the infrastructure and plan for the Issaquah Highlands, and then sold the land to smaller developers.

It then oversees development.

“Together, our companies share a commitment to ensure continuity of the neighborhood’s character, high design and quality standards neighbors have come to expect,” said Rene Ancinas, the Blakely president in a press release.

So far, about 24 of the Harrison Neigbhorhood lots have completed multi-million dollar homes, and about 7 lots are still unsold.

The Developer also has a number of large custom lots available on Grand Ridge Drive, which offers forest over views.
