All aboard the Wooden Pacific! Actually, unless you were a log, you wouldn’t have been welcome to board the “Wooden Pacific.” It was a special tramcar system for bringing logs down the steep slopes of Tiger Mountain to the mill at High Point. It was called the “Wooden Pacific” because the tramcars ran on rails made of wooden poles about 10 inches in diameter (rather than steel rails).
Tutta Bella, which has an Issaquah location, raised $20,000 Oct. 7 for breast cancer research in their “Slice of Hope” campaign.

An initial report of a home invasion robbery in Sammamish turned out to be a drug deal gone bad.
Samuel Paul Hammitt, 19, and Antonio Felipe McClure, 21, were charged Wednesday with first degree robbery and unlawful possession of a fire arm, after they allegedly robbed seven people, according to the charging papers.

In what was described as “animal hoarding, King County detectives and animal control officers raided a Burien house last night about 6:15 p.m. and seized 38 Chihuahua, Pomeranian, and Chin dogs. All were in relatively poor health and kept in extremely dirty dog crates. Fourteen were immediately taken to a veterinarian’s office and nine were euthanized. More dogs were later found at an Issaquah residence.
